New Ask and Find experience in Search

We’re introducing a new Ask and Find experience in QorusDocs Search to make it easier for users to choose the right way to search their connected content.

Previously, users needed to understand the difference between Smart Search and Keyword Search, and how each Content Source had been configured. With this update, the search experience is clearer and more action-based:

  • Ask is for natural-language questions and RFx-style prompts.
  • Find is for precise keyword searches, exact phrases, file names, product terms, clauses, and acronyms.

This change is designed to reduce confusion around search mode selection and help users start with the type of input they already have: a question they need answered, or a specific term they need to find.

Ask: natural-language search

Ask is designed for users who want to search using natural language. This is especially helpful when responding to RFx questions or requirements, where users may not know the exact keywords used in their content library.

Ask is available for AI-enabled SharePoint Online libraries and lists. For customers with QPilot, Ask can also generate an AI-assisted answer grounded in the top search results.

Find: precise keyword search

Find is designed for users who already know what they are looking for. Users should use Find when searching for known keywords, exact phrases, and file names.

Find returns search results only. It does not generate an AI-written answer. Find is available for available searchable Content Sources.

Response instructions for QPilot-generated answers in Ask

For customers with QPilot, this release also makes generated answers in Search more flexible. When using Ask, users can now include response format instructions directly in the search box to guide how QPilot should generate and format the answer.

This gives proposal teams more control over the first draft generated from Search and helps them get closer to the format they need for an RFx response.

Where the new experience is available

The Ask and Find experience will be available from:

  • Hub Central > Search
  • QorusDocs Add-in > Search

It is not available everywhere yet. For example, users will not currently see the new Ask and Find experience from:

  • Hub Central > [Pursuit Name] > Search
  • Create > Dynamic Content Smart Field > Search

Admin considerations

Ask is available only for AI-enabled SharePoint Online libraries and lists.

In the Content Source Search Type settings, Admins should enable ‘Find and Ask’ on at least one supported SharePoint Content Source for users to access Ask. Find is available for available searchable Content Sources.

In addition, Admins can set the default search type at hub-level for all users.
