QorusDocs QPilot AI Assistant leverages powerful language models to deliver accurate, intelligent, and context-aware responses to your content queries.

This guide outlines the AI models currently supported by QPilot, their capabilities, and how they differ—helping you better understand the technology behind your smart search and answer generation.

In this article, we'll address the following questions, including:

  1. Supported AI Models
  2. Choosing the best AI model and when to use them
  3. Model Update Policy

Supported AI Models

As of now, QPilot supports the following AI models from OpenAI:

These models offer varying levels of performance, context understanding, and processing power. Each is selected depending on your organization’s use case and subscription level.

1. GPT-4o ("Omni" Model) – Default Model used

GPT-4o is the “omni” model used in QorusDocs Hub Settings and Smart Skills. It provides high performance, combining speed and high-quality output.

Key Highlights:

  • Output limit: Up to 16,000 tokens per response
  • Context window limit: Up to 128,000 tokens per session
  • Ideal for everyday document-based Q&A
  • Fast and provides excellent balance of performance and efficiency

When to use GPT-4o:

  • Real-Time, Voice Interactions:
Its primary strength is real-time interaction, making it perfect for voice-based conversations and applications like virtual assistants or AI tutors.
  • Multimodal Reasoning:
Can process and reason across text, visuals, and audio simultaneously, making it useful for tasks that involve multiple data types.
  • Emotional and Creative Content:
Suited for tasks where tone, emotion, and immediacy are important, such as storytelling or generating content with a specific feeling.

2. GPT-4.1: Advanced Model suitable for high-context tasks

GPT-4.1 is the default model designed for more analytical, complex, and high-context tasks. It can manage larger volumes of data and is suitable for deep knowledge work, strategic proposals, and highly specific content queries.

Key Enhancements:

  • Expanded output limit: Up to 32,000 tokens per response
  • Context window limit:  Up to 1,000,000 tokens per session (supports extremely large documents or datasets)
  • Ideal for power users and content-rich environments
  • Improved reasoning and instruction following

When to use GPT-4.1:

  • General-Purpose Use:
When you need the best overall performance for tasks like everyday chat, basic coding, and instruction following without the advanced capabilities of GPT-5.
  • Cost-Effective Alternative:
If the complex features of GPT-5 aren't required, GPT-4.1 can be a more cost-effective solution for many common tasks.
  • Long-Context Tasks:
Still offers strong performance for processing large documents or handling long conversations, providing a robust baseline for these applications.

3. GPT-4.1-mini: Fast and Reliable

GPT-4.1-mini is optimized for speed efficiency while maintaining strong reasoning capabilities.

Use Cases:

  • Fast, interactive use with reliable accuracy
  • Balanced for general document support and chat-based tasks
  • Ideal for organizations needing consistent quality at scale

4. GPT-4.1-nano: Best for simple tasks

GPT-4.1-nano is a lightweight model tailored for high-frequency, low-latency usage. It is best suited for simple tasks that don’t require deep context or reasoning.

Best For:

  • High-volume use
  • Straightforward, repetitive queries
  • Lightweight Smart Skills or internal automation

5. GPT-5: Powerful, advanced, high-stakes work

GPT-5 is the most advanced model in QPilot. It’s built for situations where accuracy, depth, and detail really matter. If you need long, carefully reasoned answers or want to work with very large and complex documents, this is the right choice.

Key Highlights:

  • Output limit: Up to 128,000 tokens per session
  • Context window limit: Up to 400,000 tokens per response
  • Can produce very long, detailed responses without cutting off
  • Keeps track of much larger conversations or documents than earlier models
  • Excellent at deep problem-solving and step-by-step reasoning
  • Well-suited for complex tasks like legal writing, research, or building advanced AI assistants

When to use GPT-5:

  • High-stakes work: When accuracy really matters, such as legal, compliance, or financial documents.
  • Big, complex projects: If you’re working with very large documents or long conversations that need to stay consistent.
  • In-depth research or analysis: For creating detailed reports, research papers, or technical content.
  • Complex problem-solving: When you need the model to think through multi-step problems or provide structured reasoning.

6. GPT-5-mini: Balanced, versatile, everyday use

GPT-5-mini is a lighter version of GPT-5. It’s still smart and accurate, but it’s designed to respond faster and at lower cost. Think of it as the “everyday workhorse” — strong enough for most tasks, but quicker and more efficient than the full GPT-5.

Key Highlights:

  • Great for drafting proposals, reports, or structured answers
  • Everyday document support and chat interactions
  • When you want a balance of speed and accuracy

7. GPT-5-nano: Lightweight, bulk tasks, high-speed

GPT-5-nano is the smallest and fastest model in the GPT-5 family. It’s built for simple, high-volume tasks where speed and cost matter most. It won’t go as deep into complex reasoning, but it’s perfect when you just need quick, consistent answers.

Key Highlights:

  • Very fast responses
  • Best for simple, repetitive tasks
  • Great for template filling or quick structured outputs

Choosing the best AI model and when to use them

Admins can choose which AI model QPilot will use for each Smart Skill. If you choose a different model to use for a Smart Skill compared to the one used in Hub Management Settings, then the model set at the Smart Skill level will be used when users execute that Smart Skill.

If your organization handles large-scale proposals or detailed compliance documents, GPT-5, 5-mini and 5-nano may offer superior results. For quick, scalable interactions, GPT-4.1 or 4.1-mini may be preferred.

Here is how you can select the AI model you would like all QPilot interactions to use, which by default is GPT-4o:

Note that the temperature parameter is not configurable for the GPT-5, GPT-5-mini, and GPT-5-nano models. These models use a fixed temperature to ensure consistent output quality and maintain their optimized balance between determinism and creativity.
