Default AI Model upgraded to GPT-5.6 Luna

We’re upgrading the Default AI model behind QPilot Assistant from GPT-5.2 to GPT-5.6 Luna, OpenAI’s latest model, for faster and better quality responses across QPilot.

In August, we introduced a Default option in the AI Model dropdowns in Hub Settings and Smart Skills. When Default is selected, QPilot uses a current-generation model that QorusDocs manages and keeps up to date on your behalf, rather than a specific model you select and maintain yourself.

With this release, the model behind Default becomes GPT-5.6 Luna. In our testing, GPT-5.6 Luna is noticeably faster and delivers better quality responses across Ask (Smart Search), QPilot Chat, AI Text Smart Fields and Smart Skills. Any Hub or Smart Skill already set to Default benefits from GPT-5.6 Luna from October 7, with no action required. You can always see which model sits behind Default in our Help Center.

This upgrade is part of a broader move towards a QorusDocs-managed Default AI model. AI providers now release new models and retire older ones on a continual basis, and keeping up with that churn across your Hub and every Smart Skill is an administrative burden we would rather take off your hands. Going forward, QorusDocs will manage the AI model behind QPilot so that you stay on a current-generation model automatically.

Please note that if you would like to take advantage of GPT-5.6 Luna straight away, you are welcome to select Default in Hub Settings or in any Smart Skill. There is no need, however, to update your Hub or each of your Smart Skills yourself. We will be moving all Hubs to the Default AI model in the coming weeks, with no action required on your part, and Admins will receive full details in advance.
