Usually, when you open a document, spreadsheet, or slide deck from a Pursuit workspace in your QorusDocs Hub, you'll be able to access all the documents and recommended content associated with that Pursuit, by navigating to the 'Pursuit' pane in the QorusDocs Add-in.
In fact, when you see this screen, that means that QorusDocs is checking for any Pursuits associated with the document you currently have open in Microsoft Office:
In this article, we'll explain what to do if you're not seeing the Pursuit Docs and Recommended content, you're expecting in the QorusDocs Add-in and you're experiencing the following instead:
- The Pursuit pane displays a 'Save to Pursuit' message
- The wrong Pursuit is displayed in the QorusDocs Add-in
- A message saying 'This file has been removed from the original Pursuit location'
- A message saying 'The Pursuit linked to this file could not be found'
- Other issues
1. The Pursuit pane displays a 'Save to Pursuit' message
If for some reason, QorusDocs is unable to auto-detect the Pursuit your document should be associated with, you can fix that by manually associating it to a Pursuit.
To get started, click on 'Associate Pursuit' button at the bottom of the Pursuit pane.
A pop-up window will appear on your screen allowing you to manually associate it to a Pursuit of your choice.
Manually associating a Pursuit
You can browse through the list of recent Pursuits from the drop-down menu and select the Pursuit you’d like to associate your open document with as per example below:
This drop-down menu can get a bit long if you have many Pursuits. It might be faster to search for the Pursuit instead, which you can do by clicking on ‘Search’ and then typing a search term in the Pursuit search box:
When you’ve found the Pursuit you were looking for, you can select it:
Then click ‘Confirm’:
The QorusDocs Add-in will automatically refresh, and you should now see the Pursuit documents and recommended content for the Pursuit you’ve selected:
It's important to note that this does not actually change where your document is saved.
It only associates the document with the Pursuit. When you or your coworkers go to the Pursuit workspace in QorusDocs Online, you won't see it listed among the Pursuit documents that are stored in the Pursuit's folder in SharePoint Online or OneDrive for Business, or in the Pursuit's channel in Microsoft Teams.
If you'd like to see it listed there, then you'll also want to save the document to the right place, as explained below.
Saving the document to the right Pursuit location
The most common reason why QorusDocs is not successful in auto-detecting the Pursuit is that the file is saved in the wrong location.
Each Pursuit in QorusDocs has a corresponding folder in OneDrive for Business or SharePoint Online or a channel in Microsoft Teams where everything is kept together. So, if you see the 'Save to Pursuit' message rather than the Pursuit documents you're expecting, another way to fix this is to save the file to the right place and then click on 'Refresh'.
Finding the Pursuit file location
Before you can upload the document that you have open on your desktop to the right place, you’ll need to first know where that is exactly.
One way to do that is to go to the Pursuit workspace in QorusDocs Online using your web browser, where you can click on ‘Copy URL’ to copy the file storage location link:
Alternatively, if you've followed the steps above to manually associate the document to a Pursuit, you can use the QorusDocs Add-in to get to the file location.
To do that click on this ‘open in a new window’ icon (the box with an upwards arrow) to go to QorusDocs Online:
This will take you to the Pursuit workspace, where you can click on the ‘Copy URL’ icon to copy the path of the file storage location for that Pursuit.
Saving the file to the Pursuit location without leaving Microsoft Office
Next, with the URL copied, in the open document in MS Office, click on File > Save a Copy > More Options:
Then in the Windows Explorer window that pops up next, you can paste the URL you just copied in the address bar and then click on the ‘Go to’ arrow on the right:
When you’re there, go ahead and save your document to that location. You can also put it in a folder if you’d like:
Then all that's left to do is click on 'Refresh':
And that should do it. You should now see the same content and recommended assets you see in the Pursuit workspace in QorusDocs Online.
2. The wrong Pursuit is displayed in the QorusDocs Add-in
When a file is associated with a Pursuit, you'll be able to see the Pursuit Type and the name of the Pursuit in the breadcrumb at the bottom of the QorusDocs Add-in.
If you're seeing the wrong Pursuit, then you can relink it to the correct Pursuit. To do that, click on the 'Associate Pursuit' icon at the bottom, where the name of the Pursuit is displayed:
A pop-up window will appear on your screen, allowing you to browse to or search for a Pursuit.
The process of relinking to the correct Pursuit is exactly the same as manually associating a Pursuit, which we've explained above, here.
It's worth noting that changing the Pursuit associated with a document will also move the assignments and the auto answer completion tracking reports to the new Pursuit. For example, if your document was associated with Pursuit A and you had created assignments in the document and used Auto Answer to respond to questions - these are all moved from Pursuit A to Pursuit B.
If that's ok and it's what you wanted to do, then click on 'ok' when you see this message. Otherwise, click 'cancel':
3. A message saying 'This file has been removed from the original Pursuit location'
If the document you currently have open was moved to another location after it was associated with a Pursuit, then you might get the following message:
You could also get this message if the document has been copied or 'saved as' another version.
If you want to start over and have QorusDocs treat it as a brand new file, then click on 'Unlink Pursuit'. This will cause QorusDocs to stop associating this document with the original Pursuit (let's call this Pursuit A) and to refresh the Add-in.
- If the file has been moved to a location associated with a different Pursuit (let's call this Pursuit B), then QorusDocs will autodetect this and display the Pursuit pane for Pursuit B.
- If the file has been moved to a location that is not associated with any other Pursuit, then you'll see the 'Save to Pursuit' screen and be able to select the Pursuit you'd like to associate this document with.
If you don't want to lose any of the assignments or answers filled by Auto Answer with the original pursuit, then the best thing to do is to save the file back to the original pursuit location.
When you're done, you can close the Add-in and re-open it, or you can press CTRL+R on your keyboard (or CMD+R on Mac). QorusDocs will autodetect the right pursuit and you'll be able to continue working.
4. A message saying 'The Pursuit linked to this file could not be found'
If the document you currently have open is associated with a Pursuit that no longer exists, usually because it has been deleted, then you might get the following message:
Clicking on 'Unlink Pursuit' will cause QorusDocs to treat it as a new file. Next, you'll see the 'Save to Pursuit' screen and you'll be able to select the Pursuit you'd like to associate this document with.
5. Other issues
As you work with Pursuits, you might come across a few other scenarios, where QorusDocs doesn't let you work with the document while using the QorusDocs Add-ins until these have been resolved. These include:
- The file is linked to a Pursuit that has a status of 'closed': When a Pursuit has been 'closed', this means that it is considered to be 'complete'. Because it would be strange to have incomplete answer reports in completed Pursuits, you'd have to first re-open the Pursuit before you can use the 'Answer' pane again with this file. If you don't need to use the Answer pane, then click you can safely dismiss this message and click 'ok'. If you do want to use the Answer pane, then go to the Pursuit workspace and edit the status of the Pursuit.
- You are not a member of the Pursuit: The only thing to do here is contact the owner of the Pursuit and have them add you to the list of Team Members.
