Target Audience: Power BI report builders/QorusDocs Admins
The QorusDocs standard reporting template helps your team see how the platform is actually being used so you can spot adoption gaps and show the business value of the investment. This includes searches, content activity, document activity, pursuits, assignments etc.
This guide covers deployment of this standard, out-of-the-box QorusDocs Power BI report only — the recommended starting point for reporting. It doesn't require CRM or SharePoint connections, and no custom data modeling or DAX work is needed — you're deploying a ready-made template, not building a report from scratch.
Power BI Licensing - Who Needs What licences
- Building & publishing the report: needs a paid Power BI license — Pro or Premium Per User (i.e. below steps).
- Viewing the report: usually also needs Pro or Premium Per User, unless your organization hosts it in Premium or Fabric F64+ capacity — then a free license works.
- Not sure which applies? Confirm with your Microsoft/IT admin — Microsoft's licensing terms can change.
- Who manages your Power Bi licensing: your organization's Microsoft tenant — not QorusDocs.

Steps
1. Set up QorusDocs OData credentials
- Hub Central > Settings > Hub Management > OData tab > create a username/password > Save.
- Requires access to QorusDocs Hub Management (Admin role).
- These credentials are what Power BI uses to connect to QorusDocs reporting data.
| ⇒ Hand-off: QorusDocs Admin sends the OData URL and credentials to the Power BI resource. |
2. Download the latest standard Power BI report template
- Use the standard template as your starting point rather than building the report from scratch.
3. Open the template in Power BI Desktop
- When prompted, enter the QorusDocs OData URL and the credentials from Step 1.
4. Confirm the report loads QorusDocs data
- Review the report pages and confirm that data appears.
5. Publish the report to Power BI Service
- Completed by your internal Power BI/BI/IT resource or Microsoft partner.
6. Configure scheduled refresh in Power BI Service
- The refresh uses the QorusDocs OData credentials.
- Choose the refresh cadence that matches your organization's reporting needs.
- Note: refresh pauses after 2 months of inactivity.
|
⇒ Hand-off: Power BI resource gets the Power BI embed URL (File > Embed Report > Website or portal > copy only the URL inside the quotes, not the iframe) and sends it to the QorusDocs Admin. Example URL: https://app.powerbi.com/reportEmbed?reportId=... |
7. Embed the report in QorusDocs Hub
- Standard step for every deployment, so business users can access the report directly from QorusDocs — see the detailed walkthrough below.
8. Confirm access with the users who need to view the report
- Confirm the report loads successfully for intended viewers.
- If a user can't view it, check Power BI licensing, workspace/report permissions, and whether the report and semantic model are hosted in the right workspace or capacity.

QorusDocs Admins Only.

- Go to www.qorushub.com and sign in.
- Left-hand menu > Hub Central > Settings > Hub Management > Tabs & Pages tab.
B. Add a new page

- Title: e.g. “Power BI Dashboard.”
- Type: Website or Portal.
- URL: the embed URL provided by your BI resource in Step 6.
- Description (optional): context for the report.
- Click Save.
C. Verify the page works
- Navigate to the new page and confirm the report loads without errors.
- Sign in to Power BI if prompted.
D. Confirm access with core users
- Share the Hub page link with the users who need to view it.
- Ask each user to open the page, sign in to Power BI if prompted, and confirm the report displays correctly.
- If a user can't see the report, verify their Power BI license (Pro or Premium), their access to the report/dataset, and any row-level security restrictions.
Final Steps
- Review credentials: keep OData credentials documented and up to date for whoever manages the refresh schedule.
- Keep the template current: Periodically QorusDocs update the reporting templates. Check with QorusDocs before adopting a new template version to confirm it adds value for your organization.
