Setup a Smart List Connection to SharePoint

Overview

The inbound SharePoint Online List to Smart Lists integration enables QorusDocs to retrieve data from SharePoint Online Lists for use in document generation and automation. Authentication is managed through delegated OAuth established through an interactive sign-in during setup. Data is retrieved directly from the selected SharePoint List and is automatically refreshed daily.

SharePoint Account considerations

Please consider the following when choosing an account to use when authenticating the SharePoint connector. This account:

• When authenticating the SharePoint Online List connection, make sure the account used to sign in has access to the SharePoint site and the specific SharePoint Lists that will be used as Smart List data sources.

• The connection uses delegated OAuth through an interactive Microsoft sign-in. This means QorusDocs accesses SharePoint based on the permissions of the signed-in user.

• Before completing the connection, confirm that the user has permission to view the required SharePoint List and its columns. If the user does not have access to the list or certain fields, those items may not be available when configuring the Smart List.

• If your organization requires administrator consent for third-party applications, a Microsoft 365 administrator may need to approve the permissions during setup.

Note: All SharePoint access is performed in the security context of the account used to authenticate the connector and will be subject to the permissions granted to that account within SharePoint Online.

Creating a SharePoint connection

1. To connect SharePoint to QorusDocs, start by opening the Smart Lists area in the Hub and selecting the Connections tab. 
   
2. Click Add Connection and choose SharePoint as the connection type. 
   
3. To create a new connection, provide a name for the connection and select Connect.
   

4. After selecting Connect, a Microsoft authentication window appears. Sign in using an account that has access to the SharePoint Online environment and the SharePoint Lists that will be used within QorusDocs. Review the permissions requested by QorusDocs and select Accept to authorize the connection.
    

   

5. A Smart List Connection Authentication window will appear.
    

   

6. Once authentication has been completed successfully, the connection becomes available for use when creating Smart Lists. 
   

This functionality is available directly within the Hub and does not require engagement from the QorusDocs Platform Services team.
