March 29th 2018: Design Even Smarter Content

Creating and building personalized documents and presentations with Qorus just got a whole lot easier and faster, as we release an exciting evolution to the new Design features that were introduced to Qorus earlier this month.

Smart Field forms now support multiple field types, have the ability to consistently apply pre-defined formats for dates and numbers, and can be filled in much more quickly by choosing one or more values from a drop down menu.

Smart Rules can now be evaluated against not only text inputs, but also against choice field types.

Here are the new Smart Field types you can now configure under your Design tab in the Qorus Document Builder and Slide Builder Add-ins:

  • Date
  • Number
  • Yes No
  • Single Select
  • Multi Select

In Smart Field forms, Date Smart Fields show up as a date picker control. You can also specify how the date should appear in the documents and presentations where they are used.

The date formats supported are as follows:

  • March 29, 2018
  • 29 March 2018
  • 29/03/2018
  • 03/29/2018
  • 2018/03/29
  • 03-29-2018
  • 29-03-2018
  • Mar 29, 2018
  • 29 Mar 2018
  • Thursday, March 29, 2018
  • Thursday 29 March 2018

Only numbers can be typed into a Number Smart Field in a Smart Fields form. You can also specify how the number should appear in documents and presentations where a Number Smart Field is used.

The number formats supported as follows:

  • 123456
  • 123,456
  • 1234.56
  • 1,234.56

This is the simplest choice field available, and in the Smart Fields form show up as a simple drop-down menu, with the values ‘yes’ and ‘no’.  Only one choice is permitted for this type of Smart Field.

Single Select Smart Fields are another type of choice field. Here you can specify a custom list of choices, and in the Smart Field form, the choices will be displayed in a drop-down menu. As the name suggests, only one selection is permitted for Single Select Smart Fields.

Multi Select Smart Fields work in the same way as Single Select Smart Fields, but with one key difference: in the Smart Fields form, more than one choice is allowed when populating this field with information.
